Smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has launched UPI based mobile payment service in the Indian market. On March 19, Xiaomi launched its budget smartphone Redmi Go as well. With the introduction of this mobile payment service, the mobile wallet and payment services like Google Pay, Phone Pay, Paytm, Amzon Pay already existed in the market will be challenged. After launching this service, Xiaomi has assured that the consumer data will meet the requirements of localization. Mi Pay was launched in China in 2016. Its beta testing was conducted in India since last year.




The Mi Pay app has been approved by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI). The leading private sector lender ICICI Bank will work as a payment service provider for the Mi Pay app. On the Mi Pay app, users will not be able to use UPI based services, but they can also be used through the customer debit cards, credit cards and internet banking. 

Xiaomi told that it will be made available at the Mi App Store soon. It will be integrated into the MIUI user interface used in Xiaomi smartphones over the next few weeks.
